“The Last Rose of Summer”

Michael Hartnall, Opera South Casting Director, explained the story of Martha by Friedrich von Flotow


His talk was fully illustrated on the piano and with CDs

Although the most famous song from the opera is “The Last Rose of Summer”, the whole opera is full of delightful melodies, as Michael demonstrated with the help of CDs and also some DVD extracts from earlier performances.

Teas were provided at half time by the same caterer as last year, and they were excellent.

on 24th, 25th, 27th, and 28th February 2009.
